Prepping and moving your mobile home.
We have experience in moving a variety of single wide mobile homes from 8’wide all the way to 22’ wide. We also haul double wide mobile homes. These homes will need to be split in half and prepped for transport before we can haul them.
We are prepared to help you no matter what stage you’re at. We have come up with a fool proof checklist to assist you in prepping and preparing to have your manufactured home moved. Contact us to get a copy.
If you’re just not into manual labor, we can send someone out to prep the home for you.
How do you Load a mobile home?
The first step to moving your home includes lifting it and giving a careful inspection of the frame and supports, ensuring the safety of not only the home, but to our team and the general public. We then place the float or dolly trailer underneath and thoroughly secure your home to the trailer. Finally, we add safety equipment to the load such as lights and signage, to warn and protect other drivers as well as ourselves during the transportation. Although we are fully insured by Work safe BC in addition to our own insurance policies, we ask that only our trained staff be on site.
My mobile home doesn’t have wheels, can it be moved? Yes, in most cases the older wheels and axles are not longer legal to haul a mobile home. We provide our own wheel system to haul your mobile home.
Does my mobile home need a hitch? Yes, we rely on the hitch to lift the front of your home about 15ft in the air. This is how we load and remove the blocking from underneath.
Where will we transport your home?
How do you unload and setup a mobile home.
Once we arrive at the new location, we inspect the site to plan our best route for unloading. We work with our piloting team to ensure a safe and efficient delivery. Depending on your site prep and or site, additional equipment such as excavators, cranes or roll on contractors may be needed.
Do I need to have blocking on site? Yes. Unless your mobile or modular home is being placed on piles or a foundation, you’ll need mobile home blocks for us to set your home on. They can be wooden blocks called cribs or on concrete blocks.
Can you block and level my mobile home? Yes. Just let us know ahead of time and we can arrange this for you.
How do I put my double wide mobile home back together? We work with many contractors who specialize in mobile homes. We can arrange for them to put your home back together. Or if we have some availability in our schedule we’d love to help you as well.
Again, we ask only our trained staff and contractors be on site during this time.
We haul mobile and modular building all over BC. We’re able to work closely with local barge companies and can ensure your home will get off the mainland and delivered to site. We’ll even go to Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, North West Territories and the Yukon.
Is my mobile home ready to be moved?
Does it have a hitch? Mobile homes require a hitch to be moved. If your home does not have one, you will need to find one. If you’re using Bluenose to move your home, please call our office (250-808-4713) to discuss options.

BLOCK AND LEVELLING A MOBILE HOME
Bluenose is happy to offer block and levelling on single wide homes. We DO NOT supply any of the material and it all must be on site when we drop off the home. Based on the length of your home - blocking plans can vary. Below you’ll find the requirements of material needed to block your home, based on the most popular sizes. If you don’t see your length below, please call our office to discuss (250-808-4713)
Different districts require different blocking requirement. Some won’t allow you to use wood blocking, so we always recommend cinder bricks instead. Please call your district if you have any questions on requirements.
All homes should sit on a level pad - Either poured concrete or packed crushed gravel. We do not recommend putting a home straight on grass or dirt. We will not block and level a home if there is no pad.
All homes require 6mil UV resistant poly to cover the pad.

Mobile Home VS Modular home.
A mobile home is a single wide or double wide home. They usually have a metal frame underneath and a place for a hitch to attach. We bring in a special trailer system called dollies to move mobile homes. Dollies are built specifically for hauling mobile homes. Bluenose is proud to have two brand new 2020 and 2022 custom built dollies.
A modular home can also be a single wide or a double wide home - Usually they are frameless and have no option for a hitch. These homes require some extra attention and usually require cranes to help load and unload them from our trucks. These home usually sit on a foundation rather than being blocked. We use flat deck trailers to move this units from point A to point B.
